In light of the Internet Archive losing its appeal to hachette, I just wanted to point out some websites you should avoid:
* https://annas-archive.li/
* https://downmagaz.net/
* https://ebook-hunter.org/
* https://forcoder.net/
* https://freemagazines.top/
* https://liber3.eth.limo/
If you were to download books from these websites, you might cut into hachette's more than three billion dollars of annual revenue. So make sure to avoid those websites and the following:
* https://libgen.is/
* https://oceanofpdf.com/
* https://pdfroom.com/
* https://pdfstop.com/
* https://pdfdrive.to/
* https://pdfmagazines.club/
* https://sci-hub.se/
* https://singlelogin.re/
* ... or any of the other sites listed at https://rentry.co/megathread-books
Watching the #Minecraft movie trailer a few times, and it really cements how i think the film is going to be.
Basically a rich, fully realized world, ruined by a bunch of poorly written human characters phoning in their performances. Sitcom-tier jokes that don't land, dialogue focus grouped within an inch of its life, a "we have Jumanji at home" plot, and terminal levels of quippiness because it worked for Marvel movies, yeah?
Hats off to the animators and designers though.
Fun idea for fantasy writing or tabletop homebrew:
Toss out all the standard fantasy races, and instead pick five or six random Pokémon, and base your races off their traits. Like short and good at elemental magic for Pikachu, amphibious martial artists for Greninja, or whatever. Incorporate whatever traits or characteristics you like and springboard off that instead of just settling for elves, dwarves and orcs.
And FWIW, I think the sheep isn't a movie Sonic moment. It's supposed to look dumb as hell. You're supposed to find it ridiculous and even disturbing.
It's the actors' reactions to it that are totally off. The dialogue response is just too "canned response", and the other characters just have these mild "huh, that's odd" looks, but there's no visceral reactions, no physical surprise.
It's flat, is what it is. And that's gonna be the film's downfall.
to the publications that stylize headlines and other content in ALL CAPS, but who use `text-transform: uppercase` instead of actually typing the headline in caps: i see you, i appreciate you, i love you
