Y'know, the best part of left-wing ideologies is the fact that they can, unlike those of conservatives and fascists, look forward. I kind of bristle at leftists defining themselves so heavily by the governments and politics of dead men when we're supposed to be the carriers of historical progress.

All of this is to say, I guess, that to be a leftist, a socialist, or a communist, is to have radical hope in a better future, instead of clinging on to the embers of a dead past.
