how it feels being the only one right on fedi about everything at all times ever
"The list of victims continues to grow, and their stories are often lost in the global discourse, erased as academics, intellectuals, and political leaders perpetuate the narrative that puts the Venezuelan government as part of the noble opposition to US imperialism and any adversary as 'far-right collaborationists.' The real story is far from this reductive narrative."
Another thoughtful, pleading piece addressed to the left by a Venezuelan. Will you listen?

I don't really bother trying to correct/address the weird takes I see from folx on here — it's pretty pointless — but one I've recently seen has got under my skin.
The idea that all suicide helplines are legally required to report your call to the police, and that you should never ever use them.
This may be true for some (though I seriously doubt the 'legal' requirement, in which case, why would they..), but I can tell you, from experience, it is not universally true.
Telling people not to reach out for help isn't cool or edgy.
