Hi! I'm Tau. I like to play games and tinker with computers, specially programming and Linux.

I'm very chill but also a little anxious about talking with people so keep that in mind!

like our happier and more well-off capitalist allies.

@asahi95 Btw, if you are going to use OpenCamera, go to the config and change Camera API to Camera2 for better image quality

malevolent dictator for life

art style >>> graphical realism
No one remembers Crysis except that it was computationally expensive, but we all see cel shading and we're like "oh that's just like Borderlands"

The problem with Mull is, since it doesn't come with google apis, offline notifications don't work

In my experience PWAs perform better on Chromium-based browsers (Firefox for android and forks are the only (!) mobile browsers to not use Blink*)

*iOS uses it's own technology, but it's a fork of KHTML, the same as Blink

And they are right, the community is taking it in thw wrong way, but I guess they are being cautious given what has happened to other platforms in the previous years

???

They confirmed what we suspected, that they are just offering the service so police can use secure communications.

They explicitely said "We have no backdoors"

Having to repeatedly mute folx going on about "how great BlueSky is for marginalised group X!!" when it's clear they have zero respect for that marginalised group nor community safety in general — yikes.

1990s web experience

- Open site in browser
- Watch framework of site gradually appear
- Start reading site text
- View images once they load
- Click a hyperlink to more information on the thing you're looking for

2020s web experience

- Open site in browser
- Wait for Cloudflare to verify you aren't a bot
- Wait for background movie to load
- Dismiss cookie popup
- Decline to subscribe to their mailing list
- Decline to speak to a chatbot that promises it's a human
- Scroll infinitely looking for the information you want that's probably not there since it's all generated text intended for other robots to read anyway

Fucking Christ the @protocol is the most obtuse crock of shit I've ever looked at. It is complex solely for the sake of being complex and still suffers from *all* of the same problems as Mastodon.

Your server goes down? Sorry, all of your followers are lost. Account portability is no better than Mastodon. 'DIDs' serve literally no purpose. And none of the API code that Bluesky uses in their own app validates ANY of the crypto they're doing on the server. NONE OF IT.
