hmmm. do i want the super nice desktop experience that i can make pretty and stare at for hours
or do i want the super minimalist experience that takes no resources away from the things ill actually be running 90% of the time
like tbh the impact of the first option is probably pretty minimal but that doesn't make me care any less really.

its always a bit shocking to rewatch an old movie or show you used to like and catch some completely out there homophobic or transphobic scene, comment or joke that just had nothing to add to the movie.
for all the shortcomings of recent media, at least by comparison i don't have to worry about being made to feel uncomfortable or called out by it.

watching half life 1 back-track videos is interesting. both the effects of going back to a level you were never intended to go to, such as elevators now moving laterally through the walls, and the methods which are required to achieve some backtracks. my favourite being using a scientist to hold a door open with his body so you can return through it later.
