Quite a few years ago, I was working on building out the family tree using one of the genealogy sites.
I made it about 3 generations back before my ancestors historical information became records of sales, because they were slaves.
Everything happening in the US makes sense when you realize that we aren't that far removed from chattel slavery and the country has managed to put off dealing with that, including brushing things under the rug after a civil war.
