@AppleAmps “edgy jokes” are still bigotry. Don't dismiss harm.
Harrassment is wrong, transphobia is wrong. But at the end of the day, she's white first, she will be fine.
The queer black folk speaking out about the racism and lack of accountability tho... And they're are the main people getting harmed and unpersoned by these things.
You should hold the creators you like accountable.
@monaant @AppleAmps i mean i don’t know the situation but if a 15 year old says “kill all [insert minority]s” it does not mean that it automatically reflects on their 30 year old selves.
plus, i don’t think amps is necessarily trying to dismiss any harm on gooseworx’s part, fae is just pointing out that people tend to dismiss or forgive what teenage male youtubers did in their teens more than what people in general have done with gooseworx
@AppleAmps When I say
”The queer black folk speaking out about the racism and lack of accountability tho...”
I'm talking only about the black people who are talking about the goosework situation. It's not a point I made up.
The only reason I'm even aware of anything involving goose and her show is cuz of a black creator discussing the racism of the fandom, of goose and her friends/crew.
Have you listened to any black perspective on it? Cuz that's where I'm coming from, that's what I'm concerned about.
And again, treating saying hateful shit as just jokes/things of the past/she was a teenager/it was mild is ignoring the harm this casual bigotry causes. “Edgy jokes” are a marginalized kid's trauma.
Also, the things I'm aware about, are stuff she engaged in as an adult.
Yes being trans mean people will be less forgiving on her, I'm not condoning the harassment, it's not that your assessment is wrong, but as it is about goose, it is ignoring the wide context.
