I think if I were an observer looking into humanity from beyond the three things that would surprise me the most are books and drawings.
Humans are a species of chimpanzee that spend hours, unmoving, looking at still pages containing repeating series of glyphs. This can make them cry. They also spend cumulative hundreds of hours creating and staring at crude approximations of their form rendered in 2D, for no real reason. This can *also* make them cry.

Knives are also strange but we don't gotta get into that right now.

Is this just me? I feel like if you were a foreign consciousness and saw a human being reading a book you'd be really confused. These are just the same 20-something symbols repeated over and over again. Why aren't you out hunting or something?

@AppleAmps reading is something that’s so fundamental to me that i have trouble seeing it as weird? idk. it is hard to guess what something that has no sense of human concepts would think about human concepts because a: we are made of human concepts and are fundamentally limited by how we have never experienced nonhuman concepts; b: they aren’t made of human concepts and would not conceptualize things the way we do
