Okay. Once again.

Here's how it always goes across the board with bigotry, specially at a time when some asshole in charge is not just yelling prejudiced crap, but actually legislating it:

Protect your friends.

Protect ppl you don't even know.

Some bigot is on their abusive shit on the bus, the train, on the street, wherever, go sit with the person who's on the receiving end of that shit. Read the situtation. Is it just that level of assholery? Well, maybe just makin that person not feel alone is a good start. And makin sure the abuser knows they ain't just attackin one person with the unspoken consent of the rest of the bus/train/etc.

Yes. This is how these fuckers think. Actual resistance is required. Not the performative act of sayin that you resist during fair weather.

Has it gone further?

Then speak up. Make sure the whole damn bus/train/whatever can hear you "Is this acceptable to you? Is this bigotry what you want?"

Get ppl onside. Make sure it ain't 1 vs 1. Or 1 vs many. Make it *the whole fuckin location* vs That Asshole.

Now, instead of the Enabled Powerful Person, they're just That Asshole. They're ostracised from the sitation.

And That Asshole can either choose to behave decently, or get the fuck off the damn bus/train/etc.

*Community* is what I'm talkin about ppl.

And you can construct community wherever you are, even if only temporarily.

Yes, this is an ideal situation. I'm aware that some places are more prejudiced than others. That some buses/trains/etc demographically are gonna have a higher incidence of bigots, or at least a higher incidence of comparatively more privileged ppl across the intersections.

Actually that last bit is *real* common. (sigh)

And pretty fuckin importantly, some places are more likely to bring scarier weapons into the bargain, or more likely to kick off confrontation.

Can you confront? Some can. Some have the experience.

Then fuckin go for it.

And try to make sure you ain't alone in this. Numbers. Every marginalised group knows about numbers, even if them numbers are against em. You get more of you vs them on any given occasion. Basic guerilla tactics, that.

You gotta think like this.

You can't be complacent. The wishy washy 'moderate' liberal don't get shit done in these situations.

I ain't even saying you gotta get violent (I'm behaving myself today, tho defence, as far as I'm concerned don't come under the category of violence, cause the violence is what is done by the initiator, whether some individual bigot attackin ya, or the state or whatever. Anyway. Enough of that theory, we're talkin praxis)

Just *active*

And that person bein harrassed or attacked? Another intersection could be, say, disability.

So even if they are willing to do confrontation, the physical reality changes the situation.

Stand up to bigots. Stand up for yer fellow human beings. Know yer intersections.

And get ready to fight where necessary.

All the US people on my tl talking about emigrating to Canada are making me think of Hannah Arendt leaving Germany for Paris before having to escape again after the Nazi invasion of France. Like, god if he really DOES invade Canada I hope Morena in Mexico can hold off so there's *somewhere* to escape to in North America.
