anyone looking for a christmas project? here's an idea...

once https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/5920 is merged it won't be necessary have a fat32 boot partition for anymore, just a root partition.

this means that for a buuuunch of Android devices it would be super easy to install postmarketOS from a rooted Android install (e.g. lineageOS) just by

  • flashing the boot image + erasing dtbo
  • mounting the root partition image and cp -a'ing the whole thing to userdata
  • patch the UUID of the userdata partition to match the one in /etc/fstab using tune2fs, OR patching the cmdline (in the boot image) and the fstab to have the correct UUID

Then you can just run (from your rooted Android phone)

curl switch.pmos.org | sh

GNOME Software received a brand new systemd-sysupdate plugin. That was one of the last pieces needed to complete the migration of GNOME OS from OSTree to systemd-sysupdate.

The new adaptive testing feature has motivated me to finally fix Keypunch's mobile layout! The configuration dropdowns are now moved down to the text view itself on narrow screen sizes. It was pretty easy to accomplish with the new multi-layout widgetry. It's amazing how far we've come with regards to adaptivity.

@craftyguy @vixalientoots @alex @cas i think that's only perceived on some countries... i hate google, they push you to their ecosystem in very shady ways, (and remember, Google is an ad company) and i mean, yes, you can switch from samsung to motorola or whatever, but you are feeding the same giant ad company, that's why they make it easier! D:.

I feel that the biggest reason Apple is perceived like the worst is not because of them, but because the countries culture, i see a lot of people complaining about "Man, i can't message my friends because they say i have green bubbles on IMessage u.u", but then there are developing countries where you need to use whatsapp or google specific services to access your medical assurance D: (this is from a normal user perspective, i know most of Linux users only want to sideload their apps and such)

reminder that the librem 5 is more complicated and more expensive to meet the FSF Respect Your Freedom certification. What do you get for this? Some firmware is stored on a flashROM rather than internal storage, making it HARDER to reverse engineer and replace
