It's better than nothing when it gets it right - but anything that's a screenshot of a bunch of text looks to get pretty bungled, and that's the easiest example. Anything too abstract becomes a "who knows" situation.

If you can write the alt text, especially if it's a screenshot of just text, just... write it yourself. Relying on something like this means you gotta hope it gets it right, and isn't so off-base to where you can't correct it just to make it better without basically writing the alt text yourself.

(and ofc it doesn't matter if the OP doesn't add the created alt-text to the post, too, because replies are weird, and what if your instance blocks this account or the entire instance? now you'll never see what it creates & it becomes totally useless to you)
