to me, one of the oddest things Nintendo's been doing lately is withholding switch 2 dev kits, barely anyone has them still, which has left the switch 2 library feeling a little bit wimpy, especially compared to the start the switch got off to
like nitrome, for instance, has a game I've been looking forward to for, getting closer to a year now, called Mouse Work, that they mostly have finished but haven't been able to release because they haven't gotten a dev kit, and they said not only do they not have one, developers bigger than they are that they know also do not have dev kits yet either
@AppleAmps you should watch them maybe. i don’t wanna but you have good opinions
oh? you want to switch to linux but use photoshop? you can use Flunkly, which is almost feature complete except for the one feature you use in PS every day or you could use G.R.O.N.K., a FOSS alternative with the worst UX you have ever seen and does not support JPEGs for ethical reasons
@AppleAmps ig i just see like. huge rippling muscles and giant monsters when i see absolute batman
@AppleAmps granted, as someone who has never read or watched anything bat-man related outside of the lego movie and the lego batman movie, what i want batman to be once i eventually break into it is slow-pace crime solving with a bit of punching and gadgetry, but i also don’t actually think it’s going to be that
@AppleAmps absolute kinda feels like the sonic.exe of batman to me tbh. am i wrong????
An official Japanese 1988 guide for Super Mario Bros. 3 contains a small drawing of a Thwomp on the cover that, instead of the usual grimace, has a mischievous, cat-like expression. I have created a high-quality recreation of this Thwomp.
@fluttergirly don’t ask about the karters 1 (it was kinda shit and never made its way out development. i think it was dropped at alpha specifically. you can’t buy it anymore)
@fluttergirly The Karters 2: Turbo Charged! it’s a heavily CTR inspired game, but among the most immediately important and noticeable changes are that the controls are a lot more free than CTR, the game’s physics are entirely deterministic, there’s no character stats, and you can mod in tracks, characters, karts, and wheels
@fluttergirly oh btw. on the subject of racing games, may i suggest one for you to check out?
I really like both Mario Kart World and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, but one thing I think Mario Kart World does particularly better, and honestly better than a lot of racing games in general, is how like. tactile it feels. your kart reacts so satisfyingly to every little bump and slope, every change in momentum, it's got such wonderfully springy suspension
CrossWorlds (and older Mario Karts) have vehicles that feel a lot more stiff by comparison, they tend to just glide smoothly along the track and feel slightly disconnected by comparison
it's a good example of how a bit of exaggeration can end up feeling more real and tactile than adherence to more realism
defaulting on a loan with tom nook has zero repercussions unlike investments from the U.S. so please stop slandering the bell and road initiative
@AppleAmps i don’t actually think there’s been too much fedi drama, or maybe i just missed all of the drama that came out after the nano situation
@fluttergirly y’know i’ve always called this the ‘binyot’ effect, but idk if anyone would get that reference since binyot’s been further degraded into. something else
