It's amusing to me just the sheer difference in floppy lifespans. Since I've been doing backup of my old floppies, the ones that have actually survived aren't the ones I expected to. Namebrand Sony ones, stored "correctly"? Some just instantly die due to the medium holding the magnetic powder has completely evaporated and the moment they are read all that powder just flies off the platter and onto the drive head leaving huge grooves.

But then you have some of my old personal floppies, extremely abused, missing their shutter, exposed to the elements, no branding. And they somehow manage to be rescued and read without any issue
