I've tried porting Indev Adventure's forts into my Alphantasm modpack through KubeJS and it works like a dream! I have a set of jigsaws that spawn marker entities where sets of ruins get generated.

my method for learning new computer programs is to just dive right in and start poking around at everything, and then when I get stuck, I start looking stuff up, and this works really well because now that I've got my hands in there, I know what to look up, and I also have some idea of what I'm reading about, because I've had my hands in there and seen some of the stuff it's talking about

I recently finally went through the secret game stuff in deltarune chapter 3, all of which is a clear zelda pastiche, and one thing I keep thinking about is that the puzzle complete and item get jingles sound like the weird route and extended weird route jingles, respectively

the sound is clearly meant to invoke both the respective zelda sounds and weird route sounds, and in doing so, I think it's meant to say something about the weird route

I think you're meant to think about the connection there, but what are they trying to get at with it? what is that saying to us?

similarly to undertale, in order to do that route, you have to approach the game purely as a video game, and so I think the comparison to the legend of zelda is meant as an overt nod to that nature of it primarily

Poll time! Please help me settle an argument.

Can you name, without looking it up, who was governing Portugal during the early to mid 1970's?
5% Yes, and I'm younger than 30 years old.
71% No, and I'm younger than 30 years old.
2% Yes, and I'm older than 30 years old.
20% No, and I'm older than 30 years old.

It is well-known that Mario is named after Nintendo landlord Mario Segale. It has been discovered that his father, Louis Segale, was actually named Luigi before changing his name during immigration, making it an astounding coincidence that the real Mario's real father is Luigi.

That we undervalue seamstress as a trade is quite frankly deeply enraging. The amount of math and engineering you have to do to construct garments, bags etc sure isn't "low-labour", and that's not accounting the actual sewing afterwards, which is a lifetime-skill itself to perfect.

Honestly fuck the patriarchy.

Okay, LISTEN UP

DO NOT BUY LG.

Not ANYTHING LG.

Not only are they actively spying on you, not only have they updated their TOS to include requiring you to NOTIFY GUESTS ABOUT WIRETAPPING LAW, on Windows they're pushing ADWARE through WINDOWS UPDATE along with their monitor drivers - including on OLD monitors.

Gamers Nexus has all the deets:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9uefFYe6bM

DO NOT BUY LG PRODUCTS.

GN had a three-year-old monitor get an "update" that was adware. It wasn't even part of their investigation. It just happened to come in while they were investigating.

DO NOT BUY LG PRODUCTS.

one of my little side hobbies is rescuing dead graphing calculators at thrift shops

i found this TI-83 completely dead with 25+ year old leaking batteries inside of the bay, and brought it home for $8.

after a little cleanup of the battery bay and contacts with a weak acid, it sprung back to life for the first time in decades. amazingly, the original owner's programs were still intact, thanks to the backup battery.

per every canadian math teacher's instruction, the original owner - Fraser D. - had his name engraved into the shell. 😀

this calculator is destined to go back into use as soon as i can find a local math teacher who wants it in their classroom. given that a TI-84 calculator is still $190 in canada - a truly disgusting price for a computer running a 40-year-old Zilog Z80 processor (!), a free TI-83 will sound good to some kid out there.

(whom, i hope, will spend all of their Math 10 time learning how to program TI-BASIC instead of solving polynomials)

I did a lot of half-serious virtue signalling yesterday because it was fun but in all seriousness this massive pseudo-woke hate campaign against Argentina is just racist.

"Oh but they're bigoted/white/right-wing/whatever!" is literally just the zionist "try being gay in Palestine, heh, thought so" argument repackaged from the left. All of you were rooting for Egypt, try googling how they treat queer people.

And like, you do get how papering over a whole country as being a "white homeland" is literally a far-right talking point, right? The Argentine right-wing wants that narrative to take hold so they can erase the very real experiences of Argentina's massive indigenous and afro populations, you're doing their work for them. Also ignoring the massive and well-documented history of leftist organizing in Argentina.

It's important to get the word out of course, but any time I see a research summary getting shared around about detrimental effects of long covid on the brain, I always brace myself for "this is why long covid sufferers aren't worth keeping alive", "this is why long covid sufferers are barely human" etc etc

My mind has been tainted with the "I want shorter games with worse graphics" vibe and lead me to work on sprites on my own short game with bad graphics
